A resume is personal. This page says plainly what we collect, why, who else handles it, and how you remove it. "We" means cvagent.ai.

The short version

We use your resume and the job posts you paste to produce your tailored resumes and reports. Nothing else.
We don't sell your data, show ads, or use tracking or advertising cookies.
The free resume check does not save your file or the job post.
If you have an account, you can delete everything yourself, immediately, from the "Your resume" page.

What we collect

If you use the free check without an account

Your file and the job post are read to produce the report and are not saved on our servers. The text of your resume and the job post are kept in your own browser for that tab, so they can carry over if you sign in. Closing the tab clears them.
A scrambled form of your IP address and a count of how many checks it made today, so the free check can't be abused. We can't turn it back into your IP address, and the count resets daily.

If you sign in

From Google: your email address, name and profile picture address. We never see your Google password.
Your resume: the contents of the file you upload, organised into sections.
Job posts you paste, and the job title and company you enter.
Tailored resumes we produce, with the record of what changed and what the job asked for.
What you tell us when you close a gap in your own words. We keep it with your resume so we can offer it again for later jobs. You can edit or remove each item on the "Your resume" page.
A daily count of how many times you used the service.
A scrambled form of the email address and phone number on your resume, saved when you use your free tailored resume, so the free one can't be claimed again from another account. We can't turn it back into your email or phone, it isn't linked to your account, and it is ignored after a year. It is the one thing that stays if you delete your data.

Automatically

Server logs. Our hosting provider records each request (IP address, browser type, page, time) for security and troubleshooting. These logs are kept for a limited period and do not contain your resume.
One cookie that keeps you signed in, and one that remembers your language if you pick one. We set no advertising or analytics cookies.

How we use it

To read your resume, compare it with a job post, write your tailored resume and produce the PDF.
To show you your past tailored resumes.
To keep the service secure and within fair-use limits.
To reply if you write to us.

We don't use your resume for marketing, and we don't build profiles of you.

Who else handles your data

We use a small number of companies to run the service. They process data on our behalf and only for that purpose.

Anthropic provides the AI model. Your resume text and the job post are sent to Anthropic's API to produce your results. Anthropic's commercial terms state that it does not train its models on data sent through its API. See Anthropic's privacy policy.
Google Cloud hosts the service and stores account data in its database.
Google handles sign-in, and serves the fonts this site uses, which means your browser contacts Google's font servers when a page loads.
A payment provider, if you buy something. Card details go to them directly; we never see or store your card number.
An error-monitoring service may receive technical details of a software error. We configure it not to receive your resume or personal details.

We don't sell or rent personal data. We may disclose information if the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Your resume and tailored resumes stay until you delete them or your account.
Deleting takes effect immediately in the live service. Copies in routine backups are overwritten within a short period.
Daily usage counts and server logs expire on their own.

Deleting your data

Sign in, open Your resume, and choose "Delete my data". This removes your resume, every tailored resume and your account. You can also delete a single tailored resume from your list. If you can't sign in, write to us and we'll do it for you.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see, correct, export or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict how it is used. California residents have the right to know what is collected and to have it deleted; we do not sell personal information. To use any of these rights, write to us at the address below. We'll answer within 30 days.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit and stored with a major cloud provider. Access is limited to what running the service requires. No system is perfectly secure; if something goes wrong that affects your data, we will tell you.

Children

The service is not for anyone under 16.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll update the date above and say so on the site.
