How to tailor a logistics coordinator resume to the job

Logistics posts are full of specifics: modes, carriers, systems, volumes. Matching those specifics, where you have them, is most of what tailoring means here.

What logistics coordinator posts usually ask for

Not every post asks for all of these, and the order changes. Check which ones the post you're applying to lists first or repeats.

  • Shipment coordination. Inbound or outbound, domestic or international, by what mode.
  • Carriers and vendors. How many, and whether you negotiated with them.
  • Systems. A TMS, WMS or ERP. Name the one you used.
  • Documentation and customs. Bills of lading, customs paperwork, compliance.
  • Problem solving. Delays, damages, rerouting.

What to put first

Lead with the volume and modes you handled, in the post's words.

A tailored line, before and after

Before: Coordinated shipments for the company. Worked with carriers. Used SAP.

After: Coordinated about 150 outbound truckload and LTL shipments a week in SAP, working with 12 regular carriers.

The weekly volume and carrier count were in the person's notes. "Truckload and LTL" is the post's own wording for what the person did. This is an invented example.

Gaps, and how to handle them honestly

  • International freight. If your work was domestic, say so, and mention any customs paperwork you did handle.
  • Carrier negotiation. If you booked but didn't negotiate, say booked.

Posts often list more than the job needs. If you clearly show most of the main requirements, it's usually worth applying.

Wording that often appears in these posts

Use these where they describe what you've actually done, in sentences about that work. A list of terms you can't back up reads badly to recruiters, and they ask about every line in an interview.

Tailor yours to a real post

Paste the post you're applying to, and cvagent.ai lists what it asks for, marks which of those your resume shows, and rewrites your resume for it using only what's in your resume. Every change is shown next to your original, and anything it can't trace back to your resume is flagged. Or start with the free resume check, which needs no account and saves nothing.
